Remember when you were a kid and your parents seemed old? Like, properly grown-up old? All sorted and together and in control. And then one day you realised you’re the same age they were when you were young and you really have no idea what they fuck you’re supposed to do as an adult?

Me too.

I’m Annie and at 42 I’ve realised that what used to be called ‘middle-age’ is actually and incredible time to figure out who you really are, beyond the bullshit. The first part of my life was full “good girl” mode - and ended in divorce, work burnout, crippling depression and a grief-induced meltdown after the death of my mother. On paper I did everything right - and got it oh so wrong.

But a lot of these issues were caused by doing what I thought I “should” be doing, rather than being true to who I actually was. And I think a lot of us do the same thing.

So I’m on a journey to undo all of that, and change my life in my 40s. And you can too.

Let’s make this the decade of self-discovery, confidence and joy. Menopause and incontinence pads can live somewhere else - they’re well-catered for in other parts of the internet.
